Course content

Solving of numerical technological problems - basic relations, concepts, units. Material balances without chemical reaction. Material balances with chemical reaction. Complex material balances with accumulation, with chemical reaction. Stoichiometric calculations, solving complex numerical problems. Basics of energy balances. Solving numerical technological tasks in the Excel SW. Balance of reactors for nitric acid production (SW ProSimPlus HNO3). Simulation of the influence of conditions on gas condensation (SW ProSimPlus HNO3). Balance of absorption columns in the production of HNO3 (SW ProSimPlus HNO3). Gas compression (SW ProSimPlus HNO3). Balance of heat exchangers (SW ProSimPlus HNO3). Total balance of nitric acid production (SW ProSimPlus HNO3).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquire skills in solving common chemical-technological calculations, especially in the field of material and energy balances. Students will get acquainted with specialized software for simulation of chemical-technological production of nitric acid.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and knowledge of the use of computer technology at the common user level is assumed.
