Plant composition Photosynthesis and factors affecting it Soil formation and evolution Soil types and properties Nutrients in soil and plants Fertilizers - classification, properties and application Plant and crop protection - importance and methods Pesticides - classification, properties and application Specifically effectual substances in the nutrition of livestock

Learning outcomes
To introduce Agricultural Chemistry as a multidisciplinary subject devoted to utilization of latest findings in chemistry and biochemistry in agriculture to increase production and quality of agricultural products.
Knowledge gained in the course makes good preconditions for work in plant and livestock production, in industry of fertilizers, pesticides and feeding additives, in research & development in the field of agricultural chemistry and other related branches.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic biochemistry, biology, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, inorganic technology (artificial fertilizers).

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

The course is ended by written exam that is a cross-section of the whole subject. To pass the exam it is necessary to correctly answer min. 50 % of questions.
