Learning activities and teaching methods
Laboratory work
Learning outcomes
Students are going to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for evaluation of growth of selected bacterial species on various culture media, evaluation of cell (spore) morphology (stained and unstained microscopic preparations), determination of biochemical characteristics using conventional and commercial tests, as well as serotyping. Furthermore, students become acquainted with antibiotic susceptibility testing - diffusion and dilution techniques.

Prerequisites
unspecified

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation

The knowledge and laboratory skills are verified practically in the laboratory by identification of unknown microbial strain. Furthermore, preparation for each laboratory practice is checked by a short test.
