Course content

Basics of information technologies, information systems and computer networks. Actual trends in technical equipment of personal computers. Computer viruses and antivirus protection. Spreadsheet MS Excel 2010. Matematical-statistical analysis of data using spreadsheet. Chemical and medical informatics, information sources on Internet. Laboratory and medical information systems.

Learning outcomes
|
Course introduces students to the basics of information technology, computer networks, Internet and chemical and medical informatics.
Graduate of the course is aware of the practical use of information technology in laboratories, search on the Internet and selected chemical databases.

Prerequisites
|
Basic skills of a work with PC, relevant knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer software.

|
Home assignment evaluation
The practical skills are proven by questions and tasks (theory 20%, MS Excel 45% and Internet databases 35% of the final exam).
