Course content
Regressive changes (necrosis, atrophy, dystrophy), inflammation Pathology of the heart and blood vessels (atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, cardiac insufficiency, hypotension - shock states, hypertension) Pathology of the digestive tract (peptic ulcer, stomach and esophagus cancer, malabsorption syndrome, peritonitis, acute abdomen, pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis) Pathology of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung emphysema, pneumonia, asthma, respiratory insufficiency) Pathology of the urinary tract (glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, renal insufficiency) CNS pathology (epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson's disease, dementia) Pathology of the endocrine glands (pituitary pathology, adrenal, thyroid, parathyroid, endocrine pancreatic secretion - Diabetes mellitus)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to create knowledge about functioning of the human organism in selected pathological conditions, changes in continuity of functions, essentially pathological processes. Course builds on knowledge of physiology and provides an overview of the basic pathologies of the human organism.
Student is ready for study of clinical subjects - clinical biochemistry and immunology. Student gets knowledge about basic pathological processes.
