Course content
The basic definition of biological risk, the distribution of biological agents into four basic groups according to importance and probability of causing disease in humans Biological agents of groups 3 and 4 with the highest health risks and risks of their misuse for bioterrorism The package of measures to protect health. The legislative definition of risk factors and measures to protect health Safety rules processing biological material BSL1-4. Decontamination methods Preventive measures to protect public health - immunization programs in the country Spectrophotometric and chromatographic determination of certain toxicologically relevant substances and their metabolites in biological material Modification of biological material for trace analysis Biological effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation (light, UV, infrared, lasers, magnetic fields) The permissible values for exposure to non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation Methodology for measuring non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation Biological effects of ionizing radiation and radioactive and methods of measurement of ionizing radiation Effects of chemical pollutants, biological exposure tests. The basic analytical methods of biological exposure tests Hygienic requirements for quality outdoor and indoor air, legislative actions, air sampling methods and methods of analyzing air. Hygienic requirements for drinking water and water intended for bathing and personal hygiene (not only in pools, but also natural reservoirs), legislative measures Food hygiene, supervision over food quality and food - legislative measures Fundamentals of occupational hygiene, workplace exposure, personal protective equipment, air conditioning, ventilation, occupational diseases and their prevention. Dust and noise in working and living environment, analytical methodology for measuring dust and noise

Learning outcomes
The general aim of this subject is to give information about hygiene and epidemiology and information about application biological and chemical methods in protecting of public health.
After completing of the subject, the student will obtain an overall view in protecting of public health.
