General Pharmacology T l: Introduction (branches and scope of the subject of discipline and relation with other medical fields, definitions, drug nomenclature) T 2: Pharmacodynamics I ( specific and unspecific drug action, receptors and transduction mechanisms) T 3: Pharmacodynamics II (pharmacodynamic interactions, mediators and local hormones) T 4: Pharmacokinetics I (membrane transport mechanims, absorption and distribution, volume of distribution) T 5: Pharmacokinetics II (drug biotransformation and excretion) T 6: Pharmacokinetics III (pharmacokinetic concepts of bioavailability, half life, clearance etc.) T 7: Factors influencing pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (modes of drug administration, drug and dosage forms etc.) T 8: Pharmacogenomics/-genetics in drug action (variables of functional dynamics) T 9: Development of new drugs (drug discovery processes, pre-clinical evaluation) T 10: Clinical drug evaluation (designing and ethics of trials, medicolegal aspects) T 11: Pharmacovigilance (principles of activities in ARDs monitoring) T 12: Drug toxicity (basic principles, management of intoxications) T 13: Actuality and perspectives (cannabinoid system in the brain) T 14: Tutorial discussion class

Learning outcomes
|
In this course students will be trained to know and explain the general principles of pharmacology (1st section of study) and systemic pharmacology (2st section of study).
The graduate should be able to act as a productive member of a team enganged in research development and distribution of pharmaceuticals. He should be able to utilize the acquired skills in research and industry, as well as in planning and organizazion of projects with a view to health matters.
