Course content
Principles of health and safety in biological laboratory. Work with light microscope. Methods for increasing of the contrast of views in light microscopy (dark field, phase contrast, DIC). Preparing of native preparation. Vital dying, plant cells and organelles. Mitosis, dying, observation of chromosomes. Meiosis. Cytometry-measuring of cells sizes. Counting of cells. Plant tissues. Video: ultrastructure of plant and animal cells, mitosis, meiosis, and cytokinesis.

Learning outcomes
The emphasis is in particular on a perfect mastery of the work with the light microscope, including special microscopic methods.
Students will be able to work with light microscope and prepare microscopical preparations.

Written examination

Written exam. Students must answer exactly at least 60 % questions.
