Course content
Week 1 Blood, blood elements ? introduction 2nd week Erythrocytes - function, hematopoiesis and hemolysis; hemoglobin - structure, function, types, synthesis 3rd week Blood groups ? ABO, Rh, MNS, etc. ? meaning, antigens, antibodies 4th week Leukocytes ? types, number, function, description, DIFF, relative and absolute changes 5th week Immune system ? IS organization, types and components of immunity, specific and non-specific, IS coordination 6th week Body fluids - blood plasma, lymph, tissue fluid, acid-base balance 7th week Platelets ? function, number, structure + participation in hemostasis 8th week Hemostasis, fibrinolysis + inhibition of blood clotting in vivo and in vitro 9th week Basic laboratory tests, blood analyzers, blood count, KO parameters 10th week Advanced laboratory techniques - cell lines, cultivation, phenotyping, FC 11th week Current trends and discoveries in hematology

Learning outcomes
The subject deals with a basic description of blood elements, physiological regulations and an introduction to the study of clinical hematology and transfusionology. Seminars serve to acquire and practice acquired knowledge, to deepen knowledge within the framework of basic hematological issues.
