Course content
In the course, the student will deepen their knowledge of clinical hematology with regard to the requirements of the current level of this field. Teaching is in blocks. Contents of laboratory exercises 1. Safety in the laboratory, collection and transport of biological material 2. Examination of pathological blood count, DIF, NRBC and RET using an analyzer, microscopic control, interpretation of results and estimation of diagnosis. 3. Coagulation examination, examination methods of hemostasis and platelets, basic coagulation examination (PT, APTT) including evaluation and interpretation of results, diagnosis. 4. Examination of pathological blood smears, calculation of relative and absolute numbers of individual leukocyte cells, evaluation of morphology of erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets, interpretation of results and estimation of diagnosis 5. Examination of bone marrow smears, including evaluation of physiological and pathological findings 6. Immunohematology (repetition of basic methods in immunohematology, immunology of blood elements, serum markers, importance of allo- and autoantibodies, transfusion immunology, specification of diagnostics and interpretation of results). Examination of blood groups in the ABO and Rh system, false negative and false positive results. 7. Antibody detection tests, determination of antibody specificity by panel dg. blood cells, direct and indirect antiglobulin test, gel tests, cold and thermal antibodies, transfusion product compatibility tests 8. Laboratory examination of transfusion products, prevention of disease transmission by transfusion products and blood derivatives, storage conditions, filtration of transfusion products 9. Basics of immunophenotyping of blood cells, FC control, demonstration of developmental stages of lymphocytes. Immunoregulatory index, lymphomas and leukemias.

Learning outcomes
By completing this course the student will gain skills in the diagnosis of blood diseases. The student builds on previously acquired knowledge from the subject Hematology and transfusion medicine, gains deeper knowledge of the theoretical foundations and research in the field of hematological diseases and the practical implementation of laboratory diagnostic methods, interpretation of laboratory tests for individual hematological diseases. In the course, the student will deepen their knowledge of clinical hematology with regard to the requirements of the current level of this field. Teaching will take place in blocks.
