Course content
Basic laboratory practice in immunology. Good pipeting practice. Protocol preparation. Agglutination: (1) confirmation of Salmonella sp. in sample, (2) Confirmation of reumatoid factor by latex agglutination test. Precipitation: confirmation of CRP by cappilary test. Neutralization test - quantification of ASLO by streptolysin titration in sample. Quantification of serum proteins (IgG, CRP, IgM, CIK) by turbidimetry. Determination of anti-bovine proteins in mother milk by gel precipitation (Ouchterlony). Immunoelectrophoresis: separation of human serum proteins by electrophoresis and determination of paraproteins. Enzyme linked immuno assay (ELISA): (1) determination of anti-bovine antibodies. (2) Quantification of CEA in human serum. Screening of metamfetamins by fast immunochromatography tests.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Laboratory work
  • unspecified - 1 hour per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to get knowledge about immunochemical methods, which comprise agglutination and precipitation reactions as ELISA, RIA, FIA methods, turbidimetry, nephelometry etc.
Student will understand to immunochemical principles of clinical estimations and will be able to choose the right method in term of sensitivity and specificity.
