Course content
Genus Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, Streptococcus, Enterococcus Genus Neisseria, Moraxella, Acinetobacter Genus Listeria, Erysipelothrix, Lactobacillus, Rhodococcus, Corynebacterium, Arcanobacterium, Bacillus, Clostridium Genus Vibrio, Aeromonas, Pasteurella, Haemophilus, Chromobacterium Genus Pseudomonas, Burkholderia, Bordetella, Brucella, Francisella, Legionella Genus Gardnerella, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Campylobacter, Helicobacter Genus Escherichia, Klebsiella, Citrobacter, Salmonella, Shigella a další Genus Mycobacterium, Borrelia, Leptospira, Treponema, Rickettsia, Coxiella Fungi and yeast. Characteristics of individual genera, cultivation on selected media and microscopy. Parasitology - infections caused by protozoa. General chracteristics and laboratory diagnostics. Parasitology - infections caused by helminths and arthropods. General chracteristics and laboratory diagnostics. Virology - RNA viruses Virology - DNA viruses Microbiology techniques (PCR, PFGE, WGS), MALDI-TOF MS and indirect diagnosis

Learning outcomes
The Microbiology and epidemiology section is focused on individual groups, genera and species of microorganisms important in the field of human and veterinary microbiology including their laboratory diagnostics, which is practised in laboratories. Adequate attention is paid to antibacterial agents and mechanisms of their action including the methods for determination of susceptibility.
Students become acquainted various etiological agents - their characteristics, cultivation and identification including susceptibility to antibiotics.
