Learning outcomes
Students are going to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for evaluation of growth of selected bacterial species on various culture media, evaluation of cell (spore) morphology, determination of biochemical characteristics using conventional and commercial tests, as well as serotypization. Furthermore, students become acquainted with susceptibility testing - diffusion and dilution techniques.
Students become acquainted with microscopy techniques, evaluation of growth of selected bacterial species on different culture media, evaluation of cell morphology, determination of biochemical characteristics with conventional and commercial tests, as well as serotypization. Completion of the course is necessary for the further studies of clinical microbiology.
Prerequisites
KBBV/C635 Laboratory of microbiology I
KBBV/C635

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation

The knowledge and laboratory skills are verified in laboratory by identification of unknown microbial strain. Furthermore, preparation for each laboratory practice is checked by a short test.
