Course content
Sepsis and septic shock. Skin and soft tissue infections. Bone and joint infections. Infection of CNS. Respiratory tract infections. Pneumonia. Gastrointestinal infections. Hepato-biliary infastions. Urinary tract infections. Sexually transmitted infections.

Learning outcomes
Students become acquainted with selected agents of infectious diseases (bacterial, viral, fungal). The interpretation includes a description of virulence factors of microorganisms, pathogenesis, clinical manifestation, treatment and preventive measures, including immunoprophylaxis and epidemiology. Special emphasis is placed on laboratory diagnostics.
Students are going to acquire knowledge of causative agents. They are able to reccomend best ways of collection, transport and treatment of clinical specimens and consult results with doctor.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Final exam consists of a written test and oral examination. Before oral exam the students complete the written test with 10 questions. It is necessary to write the test at 60 %. It means that they have to achieve 12 points out of 20. Then the knowledge is verified during the oral examination.
