Course content
|
Chemical composition of cell. Cell theory. Characteristics of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Biomembranes (structure, composition). Internal cell membrane systems. Cytoskeleton, microtubules, microfilaments, intermediate filaments, cell and organelle movement. Semiautonomous organells (mitochondrions, chloroplasts). Nucleus - composition and function, structure of chromosomes, disruption of number and structure of chromosomes. Cell reproduction - cell cycle,mitosis, cytokinesis. Microbiology - history, division, significance. Metabolism. Aerobic and anaerobic processes. Cultivation of microorganisms. Reproduction of microorganisms. Physical, chemical and biological factors influencing the growth of microorganisms. Bacterial genetics. Review of the most important bacterial and fungal species. Algae and cyanobacteria.

Learning outcomes
|
Students obtain particular conception of cell biology in different types of eukaryotic cells (animal, plant, fungi) and prokaryotic cells.
Students are going to be acquinted with basic facts of biology and microbiology.
