Course content |
Preparation of aqueous and non-aqueous solutions. Analytical chemistry - qualitative and quantitative analysis. Properties of organic substances, natural and synthetic polymers. Basic types of chemical reactions, chemical calculations (e.g. mass, mole and volume fraction). Measuring pH. Qualitative microanalyses of natural polymers. Preparation of paints. Quantification of water-soluble inorganic salts in building materials

The target of this subject is to check and primarily to complete theoretical knowledge in organic and inorganic chemistry.
Students get practical experience with materials and methods commonly used in conservation profession. Students obtain basic knowledge in the field of chemical technology of monument conservation. In addition to, students obtain experience with written documents. |

Students must pass Basics of Chemistry I and should attend the course Basics of Chemistry II.

Written examination
Students gain credits if they attend the laboratory course performing given experiments and submitting laboratory report at the end of the semester. |
