Subject objective consists in getting knowledge on fundamental materials applied to historical structures and architectural surfaces considering their composition, properties, method of application, corrosion and technological conservation principles.
Students are able to apply knowledge on fundamental natural and man-made porous inorganic materials which can be divided into several parts. The first section is oriented to natural stone and historical and latest mineral binders. Further section is focused on significant corrosion processes and mechanisms participating in damage of above mentioned materials. Final crucial section is devoted to technological and science principles of methods or materials, respectively, applied to restoration and conservation of structures made of porous inorganic materials.
