Poetic and Critical Realism (Fontane, Anzengruber, Storm). Naturalism (Hauptmann). Fin de Siecle (George, Hofmannsthal, Rilke, Altenberg). Expressionism (Trakl, Werfel, Heym). Hermann Hesse, Thomas Mann.

Learning outcomes
In the seminar, students learn the main features of German literature during the periods of Realism, Naturalism and Modernism (Impressionism, Symbolism, Expressionism) and selected authors of the first half of the 20th century. The seminars are based on the text analysis of selected authors. Students will be able to interpret texts with the regard to literary-scientific, historical, sociological, cultural and psychological aspects.
