Course content
Topics: Geography, climate and nature in Russia Ecology - environmental protection Travelling - means of transport, airport, railway and bus station Hotel, accommodation Restaurant - meals, national cuisine Life style Interpersonal relations Grammar: Expressing approximity Comparison of adjectives and some adverbs Cardinal numbers Verb constructions without/with prepositions Conjugation of verbs of all kinds Declension of all kinds of nouns Conditional clauses, conditionals Object clauses Imperative Indefinite pronoun

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Skills training, Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
Students will meet professional and academic texts - they will be able to interpret and translate them. They will also be able to express, explain and present their own opinions on professional topics.
Students will gain the ability to give a presentation individually in oral form, to lead discussions in a study group.They will be able to work with academic texts, analyse and interpret them. They will also be able to express, explain and present their own opinions on professional topics.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Russian at level A2P at least. At the beginning of semester, students can be tested and on the basis of the entrance test results, they can be redeployed to the course of a different language level according to CEFR.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Student performance assessment

Compulsory attendance will be monitored (80% at least). Absences need to be apologised for. Type of assessment: written test and oral exam (70% at least). Consultations are recommended.
