Course content
Selected communicative situations from the business sphere. Offer, order, cancelling the order, business meeting, request. Practice of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting.

Learning outcomes
The course deals with presenting basic principles of interpreting. It links language competence and basic translating skills. Theoretical part is followed by practice of unilateral and bilateral consecutive (simultaneous) interpreting to and from German. The task is to prepare students for interpreting common business situations.
Students will show the ability of consecutive interpreting from one language into another spoken one, and audio recording of an academic text.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Active participation in seminars (80%). Seminar paper (topics will be suggested at the beginning of the course), to be handed in also in printed version. Interpreting.
