Course content
|
Importance of international trade. International trade theories (preclassical period, classical period). International trade theories (neoclassical period, Keynesian economics, contemporary economics). Autonomous instruments of international trade policy (for import restriction). Autonomous instruments of international trade policy (for export promotion). Contractual instruments of international trade policy (bilateral). Contractual instruments of international trade policy (multilateral). International monetary system and its development till the Second World War. Development of the international monetary system after the Second World War. European monetary system. European monetary union. Balance of payments. Transport services and their position in international trade.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to inform students about principles of international trade functioning as well as problems of international trade policy.
Getting through the subject the student is well informed about the sphere of international trade, international trade policy and its instruments. The student is also informed about the problems of international monetary systems, understands the influence of exchange rate and its changes on foreign trade. The student is able to describe basic concepts connected with balance of payments, its arrangement and possibilities of its analysis. He/she realizes the importance of transport to international trade as well.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge in macroeconomics, microeconomics and law is assumed.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Written examination
During the semester and at the final examination the student has to prove that he/she is well informed about international trade and understands the explained subject matter. The tutor will notify the concrete requirements to the students within the first week of the term.
