Course content
Tourism typology. Tourism market. The importance of tourism and its position in the national economy. Characterization of tourism in the Czech Republic and in the world. Activities of travel bureaus. Accommodation and catering services. Transport and tourism. Guide services. The importance of sights in tourism. Marketing in tourism.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to explain basic terms to students and make them familiar with the present condition in tourism with focus on the problems of travel bureaus.
Getting through the subject the student gains basic knowledge in the sphere of tourism, both in general problems and activities of travel bureaus. He/she understands basic terms commonly used in tourism, is acquainted with activities of travel bureaus as well as with services that are part of their products, and has knowledge of legal regulations concerning travel bureaus operation. The student understands the importance of tourism for the national economy and regional development.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge in macroeconomics, economics, management, marketing and law is assumed.

Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment

During the semester and at the final examination the student has to prove that he/she is well informed about tourism problems, is able to create tourist products independently and reflect on possibilities how to use them in the development of regions in the Czech Republic. The tutor will inform students about specific requirements in the first week of the term.
