Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic procedures and principles used in the planning, management and evaluation of economic activity within a transport company and to teach them to apply these procedures and principles to specific examples.
After completing the course, students will gain the ability to analyze the basic conditions of business in transport, factors affecting the size of demand and supply in transport, revenues and costs of the transport company, including external transport costs. They will gain the ability to analyze and measure indicators characterizing the transport process in various modes of transport and their impact on pricing in transport services. They will gain knowledge about the main principles of evaluating the effectiveness of transport investments.

Knowledge of general business economics is assumed.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination
The examination of the course is set in accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the UPa. The condition of participation in the examination is obtaining a credit. The credit confirms that the student has participated in the course to the required extent and that he/she has fulfilled the requirements for which the award of the credit was conditional and may proceed to the examination. The conditions for receiving credit are specified below. Dates Three deadlines will be listed in the STAG system. The student will take the credit examination on the selected date. Prerequisite for credit The credit examination will consist of a combination of open questions and exercises. Each task (question/excercise) will be scored according to its difficulty with a certain number of points. In order to pass the credit examination, it is necessary to obtain at least 20 points out of 30 possible points. Recording of credit The credit evaluation will be indicated in the STAG system at the evaluation of the respective credit term. It will indicate whether the student has passed/failed the credit in the selected term.
