Course content
Investment projects - project life cycle phase, basic aspects of techno-economic studies, techno-economic study of the project, project financing, cost of capital (discount rate), project cash flows. Evaluation of investment projects - financial analysis and evaluation of the project, evaluation of different options of project financing. Project risks and their management - the concept of risk and its classification, risk protection, risk management objectives, risk identification, determination of risk significance, risk assessment, planning of risk countermeasures. Evaluation of non-monetary impacts of a project - classification of impacts of investment projects, respecting non-monetary impacts by transforming them into monetary terms, multi-criteria evaluation of investment projects. Flexibility of investment projects - shortcomings of conventional valuation approaches, real and financial options, their concept, types and determination of value of financial and real options, area of use of real options.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the issue of preparation and evaluation of investment projects, to expand their knowledge and general overview of the issue in relation to the specifics of transport. Students will also gain information on the processes and procedures applied.
By completing the course, the student acquires theoretical and practical knowledge related to the preparation and evaluation of investment projects, knows the basic procedures and principles and is able to apply them in specific situations.
Prerequisites
Master's degree. Knowledge of the basics of transport is a prerequisite.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

To successfully complete the course, the student will demonstrate an understanding of the subject matter. The exam consists of a general interview on the problem, and a discussion of the work the student has done during the semester. The individual parts must be completed to a minimum of 60%. The student should be able to apply all the theoretical knowledge in the context of his/her future dissertation.
