Course content
Introduction to railway vehicles. The track. Basic principles of railway vehicle moving. The running of railway vehicle at stright line and curve. Basic construction parts of railway vehicles. Wheelset, axle bearings, wheelset guiding, springs. Railway brakes. Rolling resistances. The power transmissions and tractive characteristics. The transmission the drive moment to wheelset. The coaches. View of types, technical parameters, construction layout. Driving railway vehicles. View of types, technical parameters, construction layout. Road vehicle, division vehicles, conception vehicles. Legislative limits. Mechanism transmission tangential force, adhesion. Wheels, tires. Rolling resistance, balance of power applied on vehicle. Tractive diagram. Ride in direct management, cornering. wheels roll affect lateral force. Steerage. Steering vehicle characteristics. Motorcar engines. Power transmissions. Motorcar braking. The modern electronic element. Urban transportation.

Learning outcomes
The purpose of the subject is to acquaint students with fundamental principles of railway and road vehicles.
Student is apprised with basic principles of function, construction layouts and operation of railway vehicles.
Prerequisites
Students must have the elementary knowledge of mathematic, physic and mechanics and machine parts.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Creative work analysis

The obtain of inclusion is conditioned by participation at practice lessons with one enabled absence per semester and successful pass the inclusion test. The examination has the written part in test form and oral part.
