Total ordering of car drive-train. Clutches - dry friction, multi-disc, centrifugal. Clutches - hydrodynamic, automatic. Approach to alculation of dry friction clutch. Range, number and spacing of the gearbox. Manual step gearboxes, synchronization systems and shifting mechanism. Two-flow, planetary, semiautomatic and sequential gearboxes. Automatic gearboxes of classical conception and gearboxes with fluently changeable transmission. Hydrodynamic torque converter, planetary gear sets for planetary gearboxes, shifting and control of automatic gearboxes. Auxiliary reduction gear and high-speed gear. Articulated and dumb-bell shafts, their articulations, kinematics of cardan joint. Axle drives of drive axle - one-step, two-step, inner, outer, calculation. Bevel gear and spur gear differential, kinematics, differential lock, self-locking differentials. Drive of tandem axles, all wheel drive, power dividers, inter-axle differential. Time-lag, conclusions of talked over subject matter.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Demonstration, Projection
Learning outcomes
Subject objective is acquainting students with basics of structural design of road vehicle transmission mechanism, with their working, characteristics etc.
After complete the examination of this subject is student able to draw, describe and explain function of particular construction clutches, gearboxes, auxiliary gear, articulated and dumb-bell shafts, articulations, axle drives of drive axle and differentials. He is able to evaluate particular constructions from view of their characteristics.
Prerequisites
Encompassment of mathematics, physics, technical mechanics and parts of machines is supposed.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Student must evidence understanding all constructions during semester and also during final examination and he must evidence self-orientation in car transmission mechanism problematic to the extent of talked over subject matter. Concrete requirements will be told students in the first week of semester by their teacher.
