Course content
Air pollution: sampling methods - solid matters, gases and aerosols. Sulphur compounds, nitrogen oxides and carbon oxides in air. Volatiles organic compounds in air - concentration techniques. Gas chromatography in determination of organic compounds in air. Determination of nonvolatile organic compounds. Sampling of water. Water sensorial properties determination. Determination of groups parameters of water quality. Groups determination of organic compounds. Principles of selected analytical methods, determination of selected contaminants of transport. Utilization of electromigrational methods for ionic substances in the water. Spectrophotometric determination of metals in the water. Voltametric determination of metals in water and lubricants. Determination volatiles and nonvolatiles organic compounds in the water. Liquid chromatography in determination of organic compounds in the water. Determination of nonpolar extractable compounds by IR method. Soil sampling. Determination of heavy metals in the soils. Analysis of waste.

Learning outcomes
Give basic information about methods principles, which is used for environmental analyses, and their instrumentation.
Studying of the course student will obtain the overview about methods for analyses of air, water, soil and waste. He is familiar with usable test methods.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Exam from this course (form, conclusion, duration) is in conformity with Studying and examining rules of University Pardubice. The exam consists of oral and writing parts. The successful passing of writing part is necessary condition for oral exam. It is obligated to present the suitable end term work (semester work). During final exam student has to prove his understanding of topics mentioned above and to prove ability to solve assigned tasks individually. Particular requests will be past to students in the first part of education by tutor.
