  • Participation in classes - 52 hours per semester
  • Writing a seminar paper - 10 hours per semester
  • Preparation for a credit (assessment) - 13 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 13 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an exam - 32 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the nature of road vehicle motion, the dependence between the forces and moments acting on the vehicle and the behaviour of the vehicle. On the basis of this knowledge, to introduce students to the procedure of calculations of forces and moments acting on a vehicle and to introduce them to the basics of evaluating the driving characteristics of road vehicles.
After passing the subject, the student is able to determinate forces and moments affecting the vehicle. He/she is able to calculate the intensity of rolling resistance and other forces and moments. He/she is able to determine the conditions for stability of the vehicle and the stability-affecting parameters. He/she is acquainted with theoretical requirements for the main constructional groups, in view of their proper function. He/she is able to define the conditions and requirements in terms of the road vehicle properties required.
Prerequisites
The high school physics knowledge. The basic knowledge of application of forces and moments, resolution of forces. The basic knowledge of mechanics of kinetics of solids in the plane. The knowledge of the mathematical apparatus complying with the passing of the 1st year of the study.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

In the course of the semester and at the final exam, the student has to demonstrate his/her understanding of the problems solved and the ability to independently define the conditions for setting the necessary parameters of a vehicle. To define and calculate the forces and moments affecting the vehicle in motion. Concrete requirements shall be given to the students by the tutor in the first week of the semester.
