Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Demonstration, Skills training
  • Home preparation for classes - 45 hours per semester
  • Preparation for a credit (assessment) - 15 hours per semester
  • Contact teaching - 65 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an exam - 45 hours per semester
  • Term paper - 40 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge on theoretical principles and tools for analysis of rail vehicles, their running behaviour and interaction with the track.
After passing the course, the students have knowledge of principles of rail vehicle theory and they can use the knowledge in analysis of rail vehicle running and curve negotiation.
Prerequisites
It is assumed that the students are equipped with knowledge in mathematics and mechanics and that they are acquainted with basic concepts of railway technology and design of rail vehicles.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation

The course is concluded by an exam where the students are asked to demonstrate the knowledge from the course and the ability to use it.
