Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
Learning outcomes
The aim is to teach students to understand the properties of the building materials in practice of civil engineering. The teaching is focused mainly on physical and chemical principles of the building materials, soils, stones and mainly binders, silicates, bitumen and polymers. In the course are students introduced into produce principles of the building materials..
After graduation are students able to define and describe building materials according to mechanical, physical and geometric property of material. They have theoretical basis in chemical substance of the materials and their inner processes. Student is able to realize the basis tests of the building materials and theoretical understands other tests of the aggregate, cement, concrete, concrete, metals, bitumen and chemists.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of mathematics and physics obtained from grammar school or another secondary school.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

The credit hereby confirms that the student had attended the requested amount of education and that all requirements were met. these conditions were crucial for issuing the credit.Students have to elaborate and present tests protocols during the semester. Students have to prove their knowledges of the building materials (structures and properties, production and usage, building materials testing) by their final examination.
