Bogie and main frame layout of traction vehicles, traction motor support Traction motor types, characteristics and design Electric arc theory, power switchgears used in vehicles Optimal power of traction vehicle, project of traction vehicle DC current vehicles with resistance control DC current vehicles with pulse control AC current vehicles with tap changer control of transformer AC current vehicles with thyristor rectifiers Modern traction vehicles with AC brushless motors Multi supply system traction vehicles, pulse rectifiers for traction Traction vehicles with combustion engine, electric power transmission Accumulator, two sources and hybrid traction vehicles Auxiliary systems of traction vehicles and couches

Learning outcomes
|
A student receives knowledge about electric package of railway vehicles, vehicles for urban transportation and special vehicles (accumulator, hybrid and two sources vehicles).
A student has knowledge about common and unconventional electric package of traction vehicles. Student can calculate optimal power of traction vehicle and he can check temperature rise of traction motor for a given loading diagram.

A student should pass these courses: Electric traction I, Power electronics, Electric machines and Electric drives.

Oral examination
Seminar work. Oral examination of theoretical knowledge.
