Course content

Introduction into economics. Market, the market mechanism. Demand and consumer behavior. Supply behavior of the competitive firm. Patterns of perfect competition. Equilibrium on perfect market. Patterns of imperfect competition. Behavior of imperfect competitors. Varieties of imperfect competition. Income and wealth. Incomes and the pricing of factors of production. Labor market. Capital market,. Market inefficiency and government policy.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of lessons is to present for students basics of microeconomics as a first step for understanding the patterns of markets, function of the market mechanism, behaviour of consumer and firm. Traditional and current principles of microeconomic theory are presented.
After finishing students are acquainted with elementary consequences of microeconomics. They are able to interpret basic patterns of microeconomic elements and are able to evolve this information. Lessons enrich broad survey of students which increase their skills. Lessons are major premise for study of Macroeconomics lessons.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge in mathematics on high school level is needed for study of the subject.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination
Written exam required. Levels of acquired knowledge, approaches, as well as skill in practice application are examined. Emphasis is placed on ability to implicate theoretical knowledge to the practical level of socio-economical conditions in Czech Republic and European Union.
