Course content
Introduction to the subject, organization of teaching. 1. Introduction, definitions, history 2. Wireless data transmission, antennas, signal propagation 3. Principles of modulation, spread spectrum 4. Standard 802.11 and add-ons 5. WLAN architectures 6. CSMA / CA 7. WLAN security 8. Measurement of throughput 9. IEEE 802.15.1 Bluetooth 10. Internet of Things 11. Communication protocols 12. Low-power wireless LoRa network technology 13. Ultra low band Sigfox technology

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Methods of individual activities, Laboratory work

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to equip students with knowledge and skills with the possibilities of mobile communication and understanding of the technologies used in the Internet of Things. Upon successful completion of this course, students will acquire conceptual skills and concepts: basic concepts used in wireless networks and their practical application, factors influencing wireless network throughput, describe wireless local networks and their specific examples, security of wireless local networks, explain wireless connection and communication used in Internet of Things.
After completing the course, students are familiar with the issue of wireless networks, will solve problems with connecting these networks to the Internet.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the principles of computer networks is a prerequisite for successful completion of the course.
