Course content
|
Course contents: 1. Introduction. 2. Personal data protection - basic concepts, principles of personal data protection, rights of data subjects, controller and processor, security of personal data, data protection officer, transfer of personal data to third countries and supervisory authorities. 3. Basics of intellectual property law (concept, division of intellectual property rights - copyright, industrial property rights, trade secret and know-how, legal regulation of individual rights). 4. Legal protection of inventions, utility models, legal protection of industrial designs or improvement proposals. Trademarks, designations of origin and geographical indications. 5. Copyright (concept, scope, subject of copyright, copyright and personal rights). 6. Employee work, school work, collective work; intellectual property offenses, offenses and administrative offenses. 7. Types of contractual relations in the field of intellectual property - License Agreement, contract for work done. 8. "Unprotected" intangible assets - trade secret, know-how, etc.

Learning outcomes
|
The main aim of the course is to get acquainted with the basic concepts of personal data and intellectual property rights protection, including the basic legislation related to this problematics. The course's content is basic concepts of personal data protection, principles of personal data processing, rights of data subjects by other institutes of personal data protection. It also acquaints students with copyright, related rights and their collective management, including the protection of multimedia works, computer programs and databases, as well as industrial property rights (especially legal protection of inventions, utility and industrial designs, trademarks), or legal aspects of so-called "unprotected" intangible assets (trade secret and know-how). The course also focuses on familiarization with the basic types of contracts - License Agreement, contract for work done, including the regulation of open access such as Creative Commons and GNU GPL, etc.
