1. week: Oldest chemical skills: pigments, ceramics, production of glass, alcohols, cosmetics, gunpower, greek fire 2. week: metal process ? metalurgy, myth as oldest conception of nature ? birth of metal, refining of metal - cupellation, cementation, 3. week: Ancient alchemy ? Egypt, Leiden X, ancient China, antiquity 4. week: Europe medieval alchemy - Theophilus, Albert Magnus, Arnald, Lully, Bacon, Agricola, Eckert, Meier, Stolcius 5. week: Pass between alchemy and chemistry ? pneumochemistry - van Helmont. A.-L. Lavoisier, J. Becher ? discovery of phosphorus, Boyle, Newton, Glaser Lemery 6. week: Discovery of basic chemical rules 7. week: history of discovery of chemical elements, periodic table 8. week: Concept of structure of matter in the time ? Aristoteles, Democritos, Boyle, Curie-Sklodowska, Curie, Fermi, Hahn, Soddy, Thomson, Rutherford, Planck, Bohr, de Broglie, Dirac, Heisenberg, Schrodinger. 9. week: Development of inorganic chemistry 10. week: Development of organic chemistry and biochemistry 11. week: development of physical and theoretical chemistry 12. week: Brief summary of development of industrial chemistry ? Learning outcomes
Aim of course is enhance and improve knowledge of students on history of chemistry and chemical skills.
Student will obtain overview about history of chemistry and chemical skills of old civilizations and history of individual branches of chemistry.
Prerequisites
Student must evidence basic knowledge of chemistry.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

The exam is in the form of written semestral thesis on given topics.
