Introduction to Comeniology. Comeniological heritage of Jan Patočka. The relationship of theology, philosophy and pansophism in the work of J. A. Komenský. Phases of Komenský's thought development. Pre-Pansophical period. Pansophical period. Period of "all-improvement". Komenský in the European history of Philosophy. Komenský's philosophy of education as his distinctive contribution to European thinking. Komenský's relationship to the philosophical tradition. Platonism and Aristotelianism in Komenský's work. Komenský and Mikuláš Kusánský.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the problems of interpreting the heritage of J. A. Komenský. The lectures will mostly be based on the work of our most significant interpreter of Komenský, Jan Patočka. They will be based on the following thematic topics: the evaluation of the heritage of thoughts of Komenský in history; Komenský's spiritual biography; Komenský's philosophically relevant work; the philosophical and historical context of Komenský's thought.
Students will get knowledge of the interpretations of Komenský´s work. They will be competent to work as specialists in museums, libraries and also continue research of Czech and foreign Comeniology.
