Course content
Introduction to the problems of multimedia applications. Meaning and usage. Fundamental terms. Characteristics and definition of basic elements of multimedia application. Text as an element of multimedia presentation. Preparation and processing of text basis. Principles of computer typography. Static images as an element of multimedia presentation. Possibilities of obtaining of static images. Adjustment of static images with reference to their usage in the press or in multimedia applications. Sound as an element of multimedia presentation. Obtaining of sound record and his processing. HW and SW equipment and tools. Possibilities of encoding for storage of the sound record. Conversion of various sound formats. Compression algorithms. Animations. Principles and formats. Basics of work in application Adobe Flash. Video as an element of multimedia presentation. Obtaining of video record and his processing. HW and SW equipment and tools. Processing and adjustment of video records by the help of application Adobe Premiere. Possibilities of video compression. Formats for saving digital videos. VCD and VideoDVD. 3D graphics as an element of multimedia presentation. Simulation. 3D transformations. Integration of different multimedia elements by the help of application Adobe InDesign. Application InDesign. Basics of usage. Import of texts and images to the final document. Formatting. Production of printed documents, printing technology, prepress preparation. Production of PDF documents in Adobe InDesign. Production of interactive multimedia presentation (PowerPoint, hypertexts and other options). Production of multimedia aids.

Learning outcomes
Design and processing of basics of multimedia presentations. Text, sound, static images, animations, flash, video, 3D images, DTP.
After completing the course the student is able to acquire and process documents (data) for multimedia applications. Processed material is able to integrate into multimedia units.
Prerequisites
Assumed basic knowledge of PC operating system MS Windows.

Home assignment evaluation
