Course content
Errors in numerical calculations. Computer representation of numbers, rounding-off. Methods for solving a system of linear equations, Gauss elimination algorithm and its modification, LU decomposition. Method of iteration for systems of linear equations, inversion matrix. Eigen values and eigenvectors of the square matrix, singular value decomposition. Methods for solving of nonlinear equation: isolation and approximation of the roots. Graphic methods, bisection method, simple iterative method. Newton method. Regula falsi method. Methods for solving of a system of non-linear equations, simple iterative method. Approximation methods: interpolation. Least squares methods. Numerical integration. Numerical derivation.

Learning outcomes
The student will be introduced to some of the approximate and numerical methods used in technical calculations using the Matlab tool.
Graduate can explore basic numerical method and suggest their application.
