  • Home preparation for classes - 154 hours per semester
  • Contact teaching - 26 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The main goal of the course is to familiarize students with the basic ideas of theory of probability necessary for explication of statistical methods and to present fundamental statistical methods used for data processing in technical and economic practice.
Knowledge of basic concepts of probability theory, ability to use essential methods of mathematical statistics, ability to use statistical functions of calculator and MS Excel.
Prerequisites
Students should first pass the course Theory of Probability and Statistics ( have knowledge of the probability distribution, theory of estimation, testing hypotheses, correlation and regression analysis).

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Self project defence

Examination: The student`s task will be to find useful data and prepare a data file for statistical analysis. After that he/she will be asked to perform an adequate statistical analysis on this data file and use the results for preparation of a presentation. He/she will be required to show the presentation to the class. The evaluation will be based on this presentation. The main criteria for evaluation will be: a correct form of data table and data cleansing, correct use of statistical methods, correct interpretation of the results.
