Course content
Basic concepts of databases. Relational databases. Basics of working with Microsoft Access. Creating a database. Creating tables. Relationships between tables, referential integrity. Work with data. Database server. SQL language. DDL, DML modules. Data types. Basic commands. Operators. SQL functions. NULL value. Database design phase. Session. E-R diagrams. Normal forms and normalization. Decomposition. Integrity constraints. Primary and foreign keys. SELECT statement. Projection. Restriction. Inner, outer join. Aliases. INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE. Group aggregations. Sort the query result. Nested queries. Views. Transactions. Indexes. Sequence. Data security and protection. User accounts. Authorization. Semester work, analysis, evaluation, reserve.

Learning outcomes
The main goal of course is to familiarise students with the principles of creating and using databases, to practically master the design of a database and the basics of working with the SQL language.
Students will learn the principles of creating and using databases, practically master database design and the basics of working with SQL.
Prerequisites
The basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Word and Excel, and basic knowledge of structured programming.

The condition for granting a credit is active work during the seminars, passing two tests and the submission of seminary work.
