Course content
Fluid mechanics. Molecular physics and thermodynamics. Mechanical vibration and oscillation. Electricity and magnetism. Optics. Biological aspects of atomic physics. Radiology as an independent medical specialty. Skiagraphy and skiascopy. Computed tomography. Magnetic resonance. Ultrasound diagnostics. Care of patients before a radiological examination. Care of patients after a radiological examination. The use of centrifugal forces in health care, blood sedimentation. Breathing, blood circulation, and blood pressure. Regulation of the human body temperature, sterilization, distillation, the effect of air humidity on humans. Auscultation, percussion, the stethoscope, and audiometer. The effects of electrical current on the organism. The endoscope, defects of the eye and their correction. Laser, biological effects of radiation, ecological aspects of nuclear energetics. Physical and chemical fundamentals of skiagraphic techniques. Skiagraphy. Skiascopy. Computed tomography. Ultrasound diagnostics, imaging technology. Ultrasound diagnostics, examination of flow.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to complement high school level physics education by providing specific material focusing on health care issues and on basic mechanisms involved in affecting the human being through physical factors. Radiology provides basic information about the physical essence of radiological imaging technologies and their potential risks to the human being.
The student completing the course knows and is able to use in practice the basic biophysical and biochemical processes in the human body and knows the fundamentals of medical biophysics and radiology.
