Course content
|
Understanding the computer as a basic means of data processing and a cornerstone of information systems. Unification and review of basic user skills. Work with the operating system. Practice: working in a text editor. Practice: working in a spreadsheet. Fundamentals of biomedical statistics, creating tables and graphs. Creating presentations. Practice: searching the Internet, using electronic libraries and databases, and Medline. Using antivirus, practical application of security, and email.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to unify, review, and develop knowledge about computers, computer software, and information systems while focusing on the needs of health and social work. Students should acquire knowledge and practical skills for work with information technologies focused on text processing, tables - basics of statistical analysis and on-line information search.
The student knows the basic scope of the Windows operating system, office software MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), manages email communication including its security, and knows basic operations in a health care information system. Next, the student is able to locate information from professional health care portals, electronic libraries, and databases.

Completion of compulsory 85% attendance at the practicum sessions. Successful completion of a written test. Completion of assigned written paper (preparation and defence - seminar work).
