History of data warehousing, business intelligence Multidimensional databases Data warehouse architecture Methods for creating and maintaining of data warehouses Pre-aggregation of data, data extraction, transformation, loading (ETL) Online analytical processing (OLAP) SQL query - CUBE and ROLLUP clauses Data mining Oracle Warehouse Builder Access to OLAP objects using Oracle Enterprise Manager Dimension Wizard, Cube Wizard

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Demonstration, Projection, Skills training
Learning outcomes
The main aim of the course is to familiarize students with goals and techniques that are used in data warehousing and to give them a clear understanding of how to construct a data warehouse. Via numerous exercises, the student will understand multidimensional databases, and be able to understand how they are created and maintained.
The overviews in techniques that are used in data warehousing. The ability to create and maintain multidimensional databases, SQL queries with CUBE and ROLLUP clauses, use wizards for cubes and dimensions creation.
Prerequisites
unspecified

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Creative work analysis, Didactic test, Discussion

To obtain the assignment is required to attend lessons in a required scale and to fulfil qualified requirements (hand over the functional solutions of lessons assignments, hand over seminar work and filling tests during term). The exam consists of two parts, practice test and theoretical exam. The practice test means to realize functional solutions of given tasks in Oracle database system and the oral discussion about the designed solution.
