Course content
|
Abdominal emergencies, classification, diagnostics, bleeding into the GI system. Inflammatory abdominal emergencies. Abdominal emergencies associated with ileus and injuries. Thoracic surgery. Endocrine surgery + vascular surgery. Traumatology, injuries to the CNS. he GI tract.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint the student, on one hand, with surgical propedeutics in which the student becomes acquainted with basic surgical terminology, and on the other hand, with specialized surgery, which includes fundamentals of head and neck surgery, neurosurgery, endocrinosurgery, thoracic surgery, abdominal surgery, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, urology, traumatology, paediatric surgery, and plastic surgery.
The student knows fundamental surgical terminology, symptoms of abdominal emergencies, their diagnostics and treatment, knows issues related to asepsis and antisepsis, preoperative preparation, postoperative monitoring, postoperative complications, infection issues in surgery, injury issues, and furthermore, he/she knows examination and diagnostic procedures in the above subspecialties.
