Course content
|
Anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. Localization of brain function disorders. Central and peripheral pareses. Sensory disorders, speech disorders, neuralgia. Basic brain and spinal syndromes. Auxiliary examinations (EEG, EMG, cerebrospinal fluid). Cerebrovascular accident. Multiple cerebrospinal sclerosis. Neuromuscular illnesses. Epilepsy and seizure disorders.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with prevention, treatment, and nursing issues existing in neurological and psychiatric illnesses and to emphasize special characteristics in the care of neurological and psychiatric patients.
The student is able to practically apply gained theoretical knowledge, is able to identify and assess individual needs of neurological and psychiatric patients, to plan, implement, and critically evaluate and defend the nursing process.

Written examination
Completion of compulsory 100% attendance at the lectures. Successful completion of a written test.
