Course content
|
History of psychiatry, general psychiatry. Organic psychiatric disorders. Endogenous psychiatric disorders, including mental disorders and behavioural disorders associated with puerperium. Therapy in psychiatry, community care. Alcoholism and other addictions. Child and adolescent psychiatry. Gerontopsychiatry. Eating disorders. Specifics of psychiatric care in the Czech Republic. Approach to restless and aggressive patients. Principles of care for patients with the most common psychiatric disorders.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to familiarize students with basic concepts and topics in the field of psychiatry and to prepare them for situations that may arise in the care of the mentally ill.
Students are familiar with psychiatric symptoms, syndromes, and manifestations of mental illness. Students are able to plan, lead, and evaluate the nursing process for the mentally ill within a multidisciplinary team.

Written examination, Didactic test
80 % compulsory attendance in seminars. Passing a written test or an oral exam as decided by the course guarantor.
