Course content
|
Introduction, aging, theory of ontogenesis, changes in the organism. Peculiarities of diseases in old age. Mental disorders in old age. Peculiarities of pharmacology in old age. The psyche of an old man. Social aspects. Immobilization syndrome, decubitus.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the complex approach and specifics of care for elderly patients. The aim of the second part of the course is to familiarize students with the most common infectious diseases, their diagnosis, treatment, prophylaxis, and prevention, including the specifics of nursing care.
The student knows special characteristics of diseases in the old age, both from a general perspective and from a perspective of specific disease groups. The student has specialized theoretical and practical knowledge of the nursing process in the care of patients with an infectious illness.

Student performance assessment, Didactic test
80 % compulsory attendance in seminars. Fulfilling the tasks assigned in seminars. Passing a written test or an oral exam as decided by the course guarantor.
