Course content
|
Current situation and perspectives in the Czech health care system with a focus on nursing (strategic plans of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, education, competences, personnel situation). Quality of care, related legislation. Quality indicators. Standardization, accreditation, certification. Principles of "Magnet Hospital". Safety of care ? departmental safety objectives. Adverse events. Adverse event reporting system. Documentation of care, controlled documentation. Audits. Resort safety objectives 1, 2, 3, 4. Resort safety objectives 5, 6, 7, 8. Quality indicators of monitored nursing care, benchmarking. Internal audit in practice ? simulated situations.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide students with information about the current situation and perspectives of contemporary Czech healthcare with a focus on nursing, quality and safety of care provided.
Based on the knowledge of the history of Czech nursing, students understand the present and perspectives of this discipline. They are able to conduct critical evaluation and form the opinion about nursing as a scientific as well as practical discipline. They know the current concept of Czech nursing and are well-versed in the legal provisions relating to the exercise of the nursing profession. They are able to use the acquired knowledge in practice, with the aim to improve the quality of nursing care.
