Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to expand knowledge and skills in the area of management of patients with a stoma.
Students are able to assess the needs of the patients with a stoma involving the GI tract, a urostomy, and a tracheostomy. They know the stoma complications, the supplies for stoma patients, nutrition, fluid management, the specifics of physical activity, and psychosocial issues, including collaboration with stoma clubs. On the basis of knowledge, they are able to create a plan of nursing interventions and to educate patients and their families about the regimen and implementation options.
