Course content
Crisis management, emergency care. Disaster medicine. Admission of ill and injured patients in serious condition - emergency. Basics of CPR outside and in a health care facility. Basic concepts in anaesthesiology and resuscitation, total anaesthesia. Local anaesthesia, preoperative preparation, monitoring in anaesthesia. Pain, pain management. Intensive care, definition of specialty and interdisciplinary intensive care, monitoring in intensive care. Airway, securing, airway care, artificial lung ventilation, ventilators. Practical training in airway support and airway care during artificial lung ventilation. Securing vascular access (central venous catheter, intraosseous access, peripheral venous catheter, dialysis catheter) and care of invasive access. Practical training in assisting and securing a patient on admission - emergency.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to basic concepts and topics in the field of intensive and resuscitation care.
Students know the specifics of care for critically ill patients and they are able to provide nursing care within the scope of their competences in intensive care units, emergency admission and anaesthesiology and resuscitation wards.

Student performance assessment

80% compulsory attendance at seminars. Passing a written test or oral exam according to the course guarantor.
